John McCain campaigned in Allentown yesterday, an event engulfed in ugliness, hatred and bigotry. Republicans are exposing their true selves and they are ugly, racist and dangerous:
Perhaps one of the more disturbing comments was from the Republican whose response about rape victims having to pay for their forensic exams was this: "She should die."
Inside the arena Lehigh County Republican Chair Bill Platt twice referred to Obama as Barack Hussein Obama in an attempt to incite more hatred. Republicans use Obama's very common middle name (it means "handsome") for ugly purposes, reminding their voters of the smear that their opponent is Muslim, a veiled way of exercising their racism.
Platt also condemned Obama for not wearing a flag pin in his lapel. I haven't seen McCain with one either so is he also a traitor? Since when is the test of one's patriotism what they wear? It should be what they do.
The McCain campaign released a statement:
"We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character, and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November."
They do seem to tolerate it however.
I have calls in to various people for comments. When they arrive I will update.
Update: I called Charlie Dent's office twice this morning seeking comments on the Platt and "she should die" comments and they've refused to respond. This obviously means they support these statements.
